This Penobscot Marine Museum's education website provides a flexible tool that will help students and teachers to explore Maine's maritime history. Nine units introduce the user to maritime Maine's settlement, resources, occupations, vessels, and art. Meet captains and codfish, lobsters and lumber schooners, mates and Mawooshen. Within each unit a User's Guide allows you to find subheadings for the topic; For Educators is a link to Learning Results and Activities; and Resources offers a list of print and electronic sources for more information. Each unit is illustrated with historic photographs and images of manuscripts, paintings, maps, charts, and objects from the museum's collections.
